Italian Journey Intensive
Waldorf Methods for Teaching Social Studies
(WISM 328A)
The sixth and seventh grade history main lesson curriculum is particularly rich and important; Rudolf Steiner himself commented on teaching the Renaissance that “this is the all-important period on which much care must be lavished.” Ancient Rome, the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance are easiest to study on-site in Italy: the stage sets are all still there! Guided tours, specifically tailored for class teachers, will be given from 9-6 daily.
Highlights: Rome’s ancient grandeur; streets and mosaics of the Middle Ages; Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael; and the Renaissance flowering in Florence.
Costs will be kept low; we’ll be traveling more like pilgrims than merchants!
Estimated Costs subject to adjustment:
° WISM “Social Studies Methods” Tuition: ($ 425)
° Airfare: Participants will purchase their own tickets.
° Lodging: Approximately $500 for lodging in convents.
° Admissions and meals: Approximately € 250 needed.
